ʻO Dr. Yumiko Ohara mea hoʻolaukaʻi o ka papahana laepua no ke kālaiʻōlelo. He lālā hoʻokumu hoʻi ʻo Ohara o ka hui ʻōlelo ʻōiwi o Ryukyu. Kālele nui kāna noiʻi a me kāna hana ma ka hoʻōla ʻana i ka ʻōlelo a moʻomeheu o Okinawa.

Yumiko Ohara is the coordinator of the Linguistics program here at UH Hilo. She is also one of the founding members of the indigenous langauge group of Ryukyu. Her research and works focuses mainly on the revitalization of the indigenous language and culture of Okinawa.
